Club Chairman:- Peter Ottley LRPS CPAGB
I am a relative newcomer to Bleadon Photographic Group, I enjoy photography as a pastime and especially bird photography that allows me to combine the enjoyment of wildlife and photography. I have been taking photographs for a long time but over the last 10 years it has become a more serious hobby. Please feel free to join us at Bleadon on our photographic journey where I hope you will find us a friendly and helpful group of people. |
HON. Treasurer: - Trevor Hartgroves
My career in photography began some 50 years ago when I acquired a simple 35mm camera, progressing to an SLR when I became interested in British wild orchids. General photography followed mainly recording my travels although these days I don't have any specific direction. Photomicrography was a part of my professional life. I joined Bleadon Photographic Group in 2001 having converted to Digital and was elected to the Committee as Treasurer to take responsibility for the Group's finances in 2004. |
Club & Programme Secretary: - Mark Frisby AFIAP. AWPF
I have been taking photographs for over 40 years (yes "old" film, "old" school). Since my retirement in 2011 and having more time available, my interest has really become a very serious hobby. I try to shoot something or someone every day. If I am not carrying my “main camera" I always have a bridge size camera available. Always looking for new ideas or different angles to get an image that maybe is not obvious to other people. People ask "how can I get the best pictures ?", the answer is easier than you think, you do not have to spend lots on the latest equipment, shoot in Manual mode, use your camera as often as you can and learn how all the camera’s functions. Share experiences and see how your pictures improve. Have some prints done and see how good your pictures are. I am very involved with several active Bristol based photographic groups. Model/photographer's groups and online group/forums. I regularly attend organised studio and location shoots. |
Competition Secretary: - Michael Bryant
I have had a lifelong interest in photography and my first ‘proper’ camera was a Zenit B SLR purchased second hand in my early teens. I have spent the past 35 years working as a Commercial Property Surveyor which has allowed me to travel extensively throughout the West Country experiencing the beautiful countryside and historic towns. My passion for photography is driven by my love of the countryside and my images are almost exclusively landscapes. I am keen to expand my repertoire and hope to learn much from the other club members. I join the Group in 2018 so I am a relatively new member. I particularly enjoy the club competitions, viewing the variety of images produced by our members in a friendly and relaxed environment. |

Whilst out walking with one of my 35mm film cameras, during the Covid pandemic - you may remember one could exercise outdoors wearing a mask! Well, on two separate occasions I bumped into a different member of Bleadon Photographic Group. Yes, of course we maintained social distancing. Maybe it was because I was wearing a mask but each in turn suggested, rather foolhardy one might say, that as, obviously, I was a photographer I might consider joining their group. A few weeks later I went along on a Tuesday evening and indeed I had a great time chatting about all things photography related. A good natured group then; not withstanding ‘What’s Film’ they asked? Anyway, having been a member during the 2021-2022 year, This year I’m joining the committee and looking forward to my second year. |
